Today’s Government
By: Cameron Ashby
I wanted to discus what I believe a government should do and should not do. I will later explain how we can plan to do this. A government is a governing body that has a very important job. This job is to protect the rights and the liberties for it’s citizens. However I want to change how I’m going to refer to the government and it’s citizens. I am going to use a different and more appropriate word than “government” I am going to refer to it as “Social Security.” Now we already have a use for that term but I think that this will better portray my point. I’m also not going to call us “citizens” anymore I’m going to refer to us as “individuals.” You might be wondering why I wanted to change the names of these; the reason is because I believe that once we give greater power to an establishment and we name it “government” then we just lost. It was not created to govern you nor me. It was established to protect individual’s rights and liberties. Anything more than that is governing us and is unjust.
I want to tell you what I understand to be governing. In order to do this we have to think, if we were being governed than we are being moved to somewhere or there is at least a bigger picture. I’m focusing mostly as a society; we are being moved just not in the literal sense. Well, where are we going? What is the overall goal? The answer is always the same. We are being governed to create a more perfect society, or a utopia. That is something that I think we would want if it could be achieved without destroying individual rights & liberties. Okay, so now we know what the overall goal for this governing body.
My next question is this: How does this governing body plan on achieving their overall goal? Sacrifice, individuals will be forced through laws to be less individual. You will have to give up some of your rights in order to have all of society be able to conform into this more perfect society. So we actually aren’t going anywhere or progressing from a realistic viewpoint? We are just banning individual acts and rights? Um… okay what rights am I giving up? One would be property. Now I could be talking about a lot of things but one thing I will talk about is money. Money is your property and no one has rights to it expect the owner of that currency. That is also the first thing that is taken, through taxes and tariffs; it is theft! Income tax is theft. On a smaller scale it is obvious that this is theft. A man takes a women’s purse- theft. A governing body takes a portion of your income and gives it to people on well-fare- theft or “Legalized Plunder”
Legalized Plunder is lawful theft and actually is forced upon individuals. You do not have a choice how much you are taxed or if you are taxed at all. Regardless, taking something from an individual without compensation or trade is theft. The law allows theft and in those incidents it is called “Legalized Plunder.” I also think that individuals should not have to pay for other people’s kids schooling. That is also legal plunder. I’m not saying that I think we shouldn’t have well-fare or public school systems. I just think the government should pay for it instead of you and I.
The questions keep on coming. We have given up our rights of taxation& property, now what is the next step? It is the same thing, sacrifice. What are we sacrificing now? Our right to choose how we live our lives. What does that really mean? Give me an example: Illegalization of certain substances. No marijuana, Amanita, AYAHUASCA, Cocaine & Crack, N N-dimethyltryptamine, dextromethorphan hydrobromide, gamma-hydroxybutyrate, Heroin, Ibogaine, Gasoline, Acetone, Computer Duster, Glue, Ketamine, LSD, MDMA, Methamphetamine, mushrooms, Opiates / Opioids, Oxycodone, Peyote, Zolpidem and 2C-B just to name a few. Why? Why do you need to make it so no one is able to experience these? Just because the idea of protecting everyone from themselves sounds good? It only sounds good to those who can’t think for themselves.
I am fully capable of having coherent thoughts and intelligent ideas. Why is it that this governing body believes that they can take care of me better than I can take care of myself? Are you incapable of making choices? Are you able to overcome obstacles through reason and thought? Then why do we need to be governed? When are we as a society going to stand up for our individual rights? We are the
If everyone has free medical care provided by the governing body than it is called “Socialized Medicine” We have socialized police forces and so that is why I chose to call the revolutionized establishment social security. Another reason why I want to call it this is because it wasn’t created to govern us so it should not be called a government. Just like the other government we have an overall goal to achieve. That goal is to stimulate the economy and have the social security be capable of supporting itself without income tax. A social security should be looked at for what it is. It should be able to support itself, not through taxes. A social security should provide security to the society. It is really simple they do not over step their bounds because we are trying to let the society grow and build and not worry about the growth of a government or social security.
Your next question is probably this: How can the social security stand on it’s own? So what taxes do we pay? I think we should treat the social security like a business. It should have an influence in every industry. You might make the comment that it is similar to a government monopoly. You are wrong. The social security would not take over all other companies; it would be adding just another option for the individual. It would have an impact in every industry and would offer more options and create an overall more competitive economy. Now in order to have the social security to run like a business it will have to have warehouses and factories and stores. It will have it’s own trucking and shipping capabilities in which the social security can save money in order to stay independent from taxes. I do think that we should still have sales tax because we are using the social securities’ currency and they maintain the money and keep the dollar worth more tan less. They also are keeping the money in circulation.
We will stimulate the economy by hiring on construction workers and architects ect…The aim of the social security as a business is never to eliminate other businesses and gain control. The social security’s aim will to provide another option concerning everything for everyone. Free medical care, free rehab programs, free substance certifiers. The best part is it is there if you chose to utilize it. There is going to be private practices and private rehabs that you can go to if you don’t want to go to a social security hospital.
I say that we need to legalize all drugs. Our national debt will instantly start improving. We would be saving time, money and energy by ending the “WAR ON DRUGS.” In 2005 we spent roughly $45.5 billion on this “WAR ON DRUGS.” They get this number from adding the funds it took to attempt to control illegal drugs, cost of employees, rehabilitations cost. The government did an estimate of how much they believed it would cost and their repot said $12 billion. Turns out that it will end up costing us $30.1 billion just to incarcerate and keep these drug offenders in prison; it also cost $9.1 billion for police protection and $4.5 billion for legal adjudication. However, in 1998 Americans spent an estimated $143.4 billion to support our habit; his number includes indirect costs and includes some costs of drug policy enforcement, and so is not directly comparable. If we end this war and extend these rights back to individuals than not only are we saving $45.5 billion dollars a year that we don’t have but we will have them in state liquor stores and the social security will be able to use that money along with other revenue for well-fare, education and police forces. With it legalized we won’t have police officers out looking to bust people. The police would be able to assist individuals that are in trouble.Tobacco (Average 1990 - 94): ............................................. 430,700 (1)
Alcohol (1996): .................................................................... 110,640 (2)
Adverse Reactions to Prescription Drugs (1982 / 1998):.. 32,000 (3)
Suicide (1998): ...................................................................... 30,575 (4)
Homicide (1998): ................................................................. 18,272 (5)
All licit and illicit drug-induced deaths (1998): ................... 16,926(6)
Non-Steroidal Anti- Inflammatory Drugs (1992):.......... ……7,600 (7)
Marijuana: ..................................................................................….. 0 (8)
The argument that I would obviously make is that the top 3 killers are legal. Why are these others illegal?
This is much greater than just the legalization of drugs. However, this will fall into place once we abolish most of these federal laws. There are a lot of things that will just end like this war on drugs and that money will be able to be used to support the social security without tax and without illegal sales.
